Dr. Slade has been a major contributor to the field of ophthalmology and is considered to be a pioneer amongst his peers. In 1991, along with Stephen Brint MD, Dr. Slade performed the first LASIK in the United States. Later he performed the first Custom LASIK ablation based on topography in the United States and has remained on the cutting edge, having the first and longest experience with all laser LASIK, accommodating intraocular lenses for cataract surgery (crystalens) and implantable corneal contact lens.
