Dr. Walton speaking at an event

During the 2018 Winter Session of the American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery (AECOS), Bennett Walton, MD, MBA, was invited to discuss ways in which to optimally personalize vision correction.  “One size truly does not fit all when it comes to vision correction,” Dr. Walton says.

LASIK is the most common form of vision correction, with many millions of procedures performed, but SMILE or PRK may be a better option of Laser Vision Correction for some people, based on eye anatomy of lifestyle characteristics.  Still others would benefit most from a procedure that involves replacing the dysfunctional natural lens, called a laser refractive lens exchange.  For people with high amounts of nearsightedness, an ICL (implanted collamer lens) will give the best vision.”

Due to his experience in working with emerging technologies at Slade & Baker Vision, Dr. Walton was also invited to be a panelist for a program modeled after the popular TV show, “Shark Tank.”

“We had some great new companies that have very interesting ideas.  Some of these focused on measuring the eye with smartphones, some included expanded use of corneal cross linking beyond keratoconus, and others use lasers in new ways,” Dr. Walton said.

We at Slade & Baker Vision are so glad that Dr. Walton got to share his knowledge with ophthalmic surgeons from all around the world at this meeting.  We are also very proud to be able to offer all of these options to our patients from Houston and around the world.  If you have questions about LASIK options, click here for a great place to start; however, we are here to answer any and ALL of your questions!
