I Don’t Live In Houston. How Will My Surgery At Slade & Baker Vision Work?

We are so fortunate to be able to say that many of our patients come to us from far away entrusting us with their vision.

We are honored that they choose us over surgeons that may be located closer to them based on their research.  We wanted to put this blog together for any potential patients out there who may be doing their research, found us, but are a little unsure of the visit plans.

This article is meant to give you a little bit of a road map before your visit.

For patients interested in refractive surgery like LASIK, PRK or ICL’s:

  1. Consultation & Evaluation – this appointment will gather all of your custom measurements for our technology. You will go through some easy testing and sit with our doctors to discuss your specific eyes, visual history, and goals for your own lifestyle. Once a path is determined, you will sit with our scheduler and schedule a date for your next visit for surgery. Any prescription medications will be set up to be called in to your pharmacy prior to Step 2.
  2. Surgery – the big day is here! You will come to our office with a family member, close friend or driver who can get you home safely and leave the rest to us! We offer same day bilateral refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK or ICL) which means both eyes on the same day!
  3. Post op Appointment – You have the option to stay the night in Houston and come back to our office in the morning after Surgery day OR we can set up a post op appointment with an approved physician close to you that can help check your vision out after surgery and that we can communicate with to help collaborate in the management of your outcomes. Later post op visits may be done at Slade & Baker or with your local eye doctor.

For patients who need cataract surgery:

  1. Consultation & Evaluation – this appointment will gather all of your custom measurements and determine the power of your lens technology. You will go through some easy testing and sit with our doctors to discuss your specific results, visual history, and goals for your own lifestyle. Once a path is determined, you will sit with our scheduler and schedule a date for your next visit for surgery. Any prescription medications will be set up to be called in to your pharmacy prior to Step 2.
  2. Surgery – the big day is here! You will come to our surgery center with a family member, close friend or who that can get you home safely and leave the rest to us!  We can often plan for both cataract surgeries a week apart, but if you have special scheduling needs, please contact us.
  3. Post op Appointment – You have the option to stay the night in Houston and come back to our office in the morning after Surgery day OR we can set up post op appointments with an approved physician close to you that can help check your vision out after surgery and that we can communicate with to help collaborate in the management of your outcomes.

If you are from out of town, we created a special page regarding hotels and some extra patient resources you may need in planning your surgery.

We love working with our out of town patients to set up a convenient plan, so please give us a call today at 713-626-5544 or send us a quick message to info@visiontexas.com or via our contact us page to discuss what your surgery plan could look like and if we can make anything more clear!
